The SLC4A11 gene mutations cause a variety of genetic corneal diseases, including congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy 2 (CHED2), Harboyan syndrome, some cases of Fuchs' endothelial dystrophy (FECD), and possibly familial keratoconus.
