OBJECTIVE: Phenomenological, neuro-biological and pharmacological investigations linked bipolar affective disorders with epilepsy. Similarly, a large community-based epidemiological study of epileptic patients reported that 12% of the participants had bipolar symptoms, a rate 7× higher than in control.
