Hemolysis causes major symptoms such as the reddening skin and systemic hemorrhagic septicemia of diseased fish infected by Edwardsiella tarda. Cytolysin A (ClyA) is a pore-forming cytotoxic protein encoded by the clyA gene in Escherichia coli K-12.
