Sitosterolemia (phytosterolemia) is a rare inherited sterol storage disorder, characterized by significantly elevated plasma levels of plant sterols. The clinical features of sitosterolemia are xanthomas, premature atherosclerosis, arthritis, and, occasionally, liver function impair and hematologic abnormalities.
