BACKGROUND: C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP)/natriuretic peptide receptor 2 (NPR2) signaling is essential for long bone growth. Enhanced CNP production caused by chromosomal translocations results in tall stature, a Marfanoid phenotype, and skeletal abnormalities.
