BACKGROUND: Carbamazepine (CBZ) is broadly used for the treatment of epilepsy, neuropathic pain and other neurological diseases, owing to its effectiveness and low price. CBZ can induce Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN).
