BACKGROUND: Cetuximab is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-blocking antibody that has been approved for the treatment of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and metastatic colorectal cancer, but no predictive biomarkers of activity have been yet identified.
