To characterize Neisseria meningitidis isolates collected from cerebrospinal fluid of meningitis cases in Egypt (1998-2003) as part of surveillance studies, 67 isolates were serogrouped, tested for antibiotic sensitivity and analyzed using multilocus sequence typing (MLST).
