Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) is the causal agent of Johne's disease in dairy cattle. Genotyping of MAP is useful to gain a better understanding of the origin of infection, to evaluate regional control programs, to improve diagnostics, and to develop vaccines.
