Prenatal diagnosis of severe α-thalassemia (α-thal) diseases is usually performed by DNA analysis. To establish a simple and rapid method, we evaluated the reliability of cord blood hemoglobin (Hb) analysis using an automated capillary electrophoresis (CE) system.
