A newly developed general primer-mediated polymerase chain reaction (GP-PCR) was used for the detection of a broad spectrum of Human Papilloma-virus (HPV) genotypes, including unsequenced types, in cytologically normal and abnormal cervical smears and in biopsies of cervical carcinomas.
