Glutaryl-coenzyme A (CoA) dehydrogenases (GDHs) are acyl-CoA dehydrogenases, which usually dehydrogenate and decarboxylate the substrate to crotonyl-CoA. In some anaerobic bacteria, non-decarboxylating GDHs exist that release glutaconyl-CoA (2,3-dehydroglutaryl-CoA) without decarboxylation.
