Marfan syndrome is an inherited connective tissue disorder with ocular, skeletal and cardiovascular systems and often causes acute aortic dissection. Interestingly, there have been several reports of familial thoracic aortic dissection in patients with autosomal dominant diseases without Marfan syndrome.
