Satellite cells were isolated by enzymatic dissociation and Percoll gradient centrifugation from adult rat diaphragm, soleus, and tibialis anterior muscles with fairly reproducible yields. Diaphragm and soleus muscle yielded approximately five times more satellite cells than tibialis anterior muscle.
