BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS) is a rare autosomal recessive ciliopathy with a wide spectrum of clinical features including obesity, retinitis pigmentosa, polydactyly, mental retardation, hypogonadism, and renal abnormalities.
