Enzyme immunoassay and Western blotting (electrophoretic) techniques were used to determine haptoglobin (HP) phenotypes from older bloodstains. Serum was collected from liquid blood and the HP phenotypes were determined. Bloodstains were prepared from these specimens and stored at various temperatures for several months.
