Faecal samples of 200 infants were investigated for haemolytic Enterobacteriaceae. Forty infants were carrying alpha-haemolysin producing Escherichia coli, two carried haemolytic strains of Morganella morganii and one infant carried a haemolytic strain of Enterobacter cloacae.
