The paper studies the distribution of circulating lymphocytic phenotypes in 20 cases of recurrent aphthous stomatitis. The statistical analysis of data, together with that found in 40 normal subjects, reveals the selective immunoactivation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes and NK cells similar to that found during the course of acute viral diseases.
