The Birt Hogg Dubé syndrome (BHD) is a rare autosomal dominant genodermatosis predisposing patients to developing fibrofolliculoma, trichodiscoma and acrochordon. The syndrome is caused by germline mutations in the folliculin (FLCN) gene, encoding the folliculin tumor-suppressor protein.
