The response of Nicotiana tabacum to tentoxin (chlorosis) is inherited with chloroplasts. N. tabacum var. Xanthi, a tentoxin-resistant line, was used to pollinate tentoxin-sensitive N. tabacum line 92, an alloplasmic male-sterile line containing N. undulata plastids.
