Stool specimens from 631 children with acute diarrhoea and from 277 healthy controls were tested for the presence of non-enteropathogenic, non-enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli strains which mediated mannose-resistant haemagglutination of human erythrocytes (MRHA+).
