Abstract excerpt
Seven non-motile, facultatively anaerobic, alginolytic marine bacteria were isolated from the cultured clams Ruditapes philippinarum and Ruditapes decussatus. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that these marine bacteria were closely related to the recently described species Vibrio comitans, Vibrio rarus and Vibrio inusitatus (>or=99.0 % sequence similarity).
