Choroideremia (CHM) is a chorioretinal degeneration with an X-linked pattern of inheritance. Affected males experience progressive atrophy of the choroid, retinal pigment epithelium and retina leading to eventual blindness. The CHM gene encodes Rab escort protein 1 (REP-1).
