A novel strain, NJ-8(T), was isolated from sediment of the eutrophic Taihu Lake (China) and was subjected to a taxonomic study by using a polyphasic approach. The novel strain was aerobic and formed orange-pigmented colonies on R2A agar. Cells were Gram-negative single rods that were motile by means of gliding.
