A set of 146,611 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) were generated from 10 flax cDNA libraries. After assembly, a total of 11,166 contigs and 11,896 singletons were mined for the presence of putative simple sequence repeats (SSRs) and yielded 806 (3.5%) non-redundant sequences which contained 851 putative SSRs.
