A coryneform bacterium isolated from a cow with a profound ulceration was characterized by using phenotypic and molecular taxonomic methods. Chemotaxonomic investigations revealed the presence of cell-wall chemotype IV and short-chain mycolic acids consistent with the genus Corynebacterium.
