PURPOSE: The lysyl oxidase-like protein 1 (LOXL1) gene is strongly associated with exfoliation glaucoma, which is very rare in the Chinese population. The implicated LOXL1 polymorphisms have not been associated with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).
