Glycoprotein Ib alpha (GpIbalpha), a trans-membrane glycoprotein, is expressed on the surface of megakaryocytes and platelets, where, in association with glycoprotein Ib beta, glycoprotein V, and glycoprotein IX, it normally forms the von Willebrand factor receptor (vWFR).
