A L-delta 1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase activity has been detected in crude extracts of Desulfovibrio desulfuricans Norway. This P5C reductase activity is also found when a 2.5 kb D. desulfuricans DNA fragment is introduced into an Escherichia coli proC mutant.
