A multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method was applied to differentiate thelytokous and arrhenotokous strains of Neochrysocharis formosa (Westwood). Alignment of strain first internal transcribed spacer regions revealed high nucleotide variability and the strain-specific primer sequence used.
