DsbD from Escherichia coli transports electrons from cytoplasmic thioredoxin across the inner membrane to the periplasmic substrate proteins DsbC, DsbG and CcmG. DsbD consists of three domains: a periplasmic N-terminal domain, a central transmembrane domain (tmDsbD) and a periplasmic C-terminal domain.
