Raltegravir (RAL) (MK-0518), a novel and potent inhibitor of HIV-1 integrase, has been shown to be effective in reducing viral activity in both heavily antiretroviral treatment-experienced [1] and treatment-naïve [2] HIV-1 infected patients.
