Hereditary pyrimidine 5'-nucleotidase deficiency is the most frequent enzymopathy of red blood cell nucleotide metabolism that causes hereditary non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia. The disease is usually characterized by mild-to-moderate hemolytic anemia, reticulocytosis and hyperbilirubinemia.
