Differences between the mouse Ly5a and Ly5b alleles can be distinguished on the basis of polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-restriction enzyme analysis and differential monoclonal antibody reactivities. To more precisely map the Ly5 gene on the mouse chromosome 1, analytical DNA and protein tests were performed on recombinant inbred strains of mice prepared from SJL/J (Ly5a) and BALB/cke (Ly5b) progenitor strains....
