Pseudomonas mephitica CCUG 2513(T) has been reinvestigated to clarify its taxonomic position. 16S rRNA gene sequence comparisons demonstrated that this strain clusters phylogenetically closely with Janthinobacterium lividum (99.8% sequence similarity to the type strain).
