Karyotype and other chromosomal markers of Characidium cf. gomesi were analyzed using conventional (Giemsa-staining, Ag-NOR and C-banding) and molecular (Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) with 18S and 5S rDNA biotinylated probes) techniques.
