Examination of 12 strains of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus revealed that the strains expressed different constitutive levels of beta-lactamase. Mutants resistant to cefoxitin, cefoperazone or ceftazidime were selected from a strain producing a low level of beta-lactamase.
