A micro-organism, DCY12T, comprising Gram-negative, non-motile, pale-yellow rods was isolated from soil from a ginseng field in South Korea and was investigated to determine its taxonomic status. It grew optimally at 30 degrees C and at pH 7.0, the G+C content of its DNA was 40.5 mol%, the major components of the fatty acid profile were C16:0 and C18:1 and the major ubiquinone was Q-8.
