Alcoholic chronic pancreatitis (ACP) develops in only a small number of alcoholics. Monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) and heat-shock protein 70-2 (HSP70-2) polymorphisms have been reported to be associated with the severity of acute pancreatitis.
