PURPOSE: 1-beta-D-Arabinofuranosylcytosine (cytarabine; ara-C) is the most active agent in myeloid leukemia. 5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine (DAC) is a cytosine analogue that inhibits DNA methylation and also has activity in myeloid leukemia.
