CONTEXT: Heterozygous mutations in thyroid hormone receptor-beta (TRbeta) gene are the cause of resistance to thyroid hormone (RTH) in more than 85% of families having the syndrome. In 23% of the families, TRbeta gene mutations occur de novo.
