The ability to utilize siderophores of bacterial and fungal origin has been studied in wild-type and mutant strains of the enterobacterial genera Salmonella, Escherichia, Shigella, Moellerella, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Hafnia, Pantoea, Ewingella, Tatumella, Yersinia, and in the non-enterics Aeromonas, Pseudomonas and Aureobacterium.
