Abstract We tested the hypothesis that phenotypic parallelism between dwarf and normal whitefish ecotypes (Coregonus clupeaformis, Salmonidae) is accompanied by parallelism in gene transcription. The most striking phenotypic differences between these forms implied energetic metabolism and swimming activity.
