Dermatomyositis is an inflammatory disease of the skin and muscle and is most commonly found in the Shetland sheepdog. Both the clinical presentation and the age of onset of dermatomyositis vary widely, and the inability to diagnose dermatomyositis before clinical symptoms ensue has made control of the disease difficult.
