Microsatellite sequences were cloned and sequenced from Cicer reticulatum, the wild annual progenitor of chickpea (C. arietinum L.). Based on the flanking sequences of the microsatellite motifs, 11 sequence-tagged microsatellite site (STMS) markers were developed.
