Yellow-pigmented, Gram-negative organisms isolated from raw chicken were investigated by means of a polyphasic taxonomic approach and were shown to represent a novel species in the genus Chryseobacterium, for which the name Chryseobacterium vrystaatense sp. nov. is proposed.
