A Gram-positive, coryneform bacterium, strain 1-19(T), was isolated from coastal sediment from the Eastern China Sea. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that the organism formed a robust clade with the type species of the genus Sanguibacter and displayed less than 97% gene sequence similarity.
