FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC), a gene from Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh. that acts as a flowering repressor, was expressed in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L. 'Samsun'). Five putative transgenic lines were selected and examined for the presence of FLC.
