The dgd1 mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana provides us with a powerful tool for revealing the specific role of digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGDG) in photosynthesis. Blue-native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis analysis revealed that photosystem I (PSI) subunits are assembled into a PSI complex, and that a PSI subcomplex lacking stroma side subunits was also present.
