Pseudomonas aeruginosa with decreased levels of meropenem susceptibility were identified in the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh in 2002. Within the affected group of patients, none had meropenem-resistant P. aeruginosa when they arrived in the intensive care unit (ICU).
